Things to Do

There are endless ways to be entertained in New York City! We enjoying trying new foods, going to comedy shows, having a drink on rooftops, exploring parks, and playing pool. See below for some of our favorite spots and activities!

Food

Pizza: You can't go wrong with a good slice of pizza in NYC. For a single slice, we like Joe's Pizza which has locations throughout the city. Some sit-down places we like are: Motorino, John's of Bleecker Street, and Sottocasa in Harlem.

Bagels: You haven't had bagels until you've had them in NYC. Our favorites include Best Bagel (but not their coffee!), H&H Bagel, Zucker's, and PopUp Bagels. Anastasia loves the nova salmon sandwiches and Josh prefers bacon egg and cheese. Daily Provisions makes a delicious bacon egg and cheese sandwich as well.

Coffee: For the city that never sleeps, you need a good cup of coffee. We like Black Press Coffee, Irving Farm, and Matto Espresso for a cheap cup.

Sweets: Our favorite cookies are at Levain bakery, which has multiple locations, and Anastasia loves the cupcakes at Magnolia bakery.

Shows

New York is known for Broadway shows and excellent comedians.

If you have time, we highly recommend attending a comedy show at Comedy Cellar. You never know, a famous comedian will sometimes drop by! For the weekend shows, Comedy Cellar gets booked up in advance. We recommend reserving tickets about a month in advance from their website here. It is free to reserve, and if you don't end up going, the tickets are released to standby.

Broadway shows are always a good time, even if you are not really into theater. The quality is unparalleled. If you have time, you can try to snag a ticket for 50% off at a TKTS booth either in Times Square or Lincoln Center. Head to over to the TKTS website to see what shows are available. Book of Mormon, Hamilton, Harry Potter are all great, but you really can't go wrong with most shows. You can also just book tickets online or at the box office of the theater to save on service fees.
